As the reset generates the Asus router default password, you might prefer setting a new login password so that no one else can get access to the router. To do this, first you need to connect your router to a computer either wirelessly or using an Ethernet cable. Once the devices establish a connection, you can follow the below-mentioned steps:
Open your preferred web browser on a computer.
Type the router’s IP address, i.e., 192.168.1.1 in the browser’s address bar, and press Enter to open the router login page.
Enter “admin” and “password” as the default login username and password respectively.
Click on “Sign In” to sign into the router admin console.
Once you are logged into the router, click on the “Advanced Settings” tab and follow the on-screen instructions to set a new password for your router. Lastly, you can click on the “Apply” button to save the changes and log out of the router management console. You can then re-login to the router admin console using the newly set password.
